Adele Woodyard has been an award winning freelance writer/photographer since 1988, but fiction, to read and write, has been her love since childhood. Her first published short story (number 12 in this collection) appeared in 1970. The rest in The Shell and the Starfish were written while a practicing journalist, along with two novels; Final Payment and Murder Intended are awaiting publication.

As a journalist, Adele has had hundreds of travel pieces, profiles, outdoor and general interest articles appear in over 80 local, regional and national consumer and trade publications and online. Her features and a regular column on Florida travel, 50 in all, for one senior magazine were often reprinted in others.

Non-fiction books include an Insider Report on a houseboat weekend on the Suwannee River, one of 12 in Insider’s Guide to the World’s Most Exciting Cruises, by Linde and Lane. Adele co-authored Fun With the Family Florida, 7th ed (Globe Pequot Press, 2009; available Amazon.com) and is currently at work on a second Florida travel guide for Palm Print Press.
